Message for World AIDS Day 1 December 2008 -- The 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day this year also marks a major milestone in the long struggle against this disease. More than 3 million people in low- and middle-income countries are now receiving life-prolonging antiretroviral therapy. Universal voluntary testing, immediate treatment can reduce HIV cases 26 November 2008 -- Universal voluntary testing followed by immediate antiretroviral therapy treatment can reduce new HIV cases by 95% within 10 years, according to new findings based on a mathematical model developed by HIV specialists in WHO. The computer model raises substantial issues which will be the focus of a meeting next year.
